Lining Up the Tetris Titans

Even though it's not coming out until 2012, indie doc Ecstasy of Order: The Tetris Masters is garnering some early online buzz.

The film is anchored around the 2010 Classic Tetris World Championships, which were held last August in downtown Los Angeles. But it really started a year beforehand, when Florida State film school grad Adam Cornelius made the short Max-Out!, about SoCal Tetris champ Harry Hong.

The short attracted the attention of another Tetris high scorer, Robin Mihara, also a Tetris tournament officiator. Together, the pair decided the subject matter was worth expanding to feature length:

There's much more about the current state of Tetris at Lost Hammer, a blog featuring the musings of Mihara and other members of the Tetris elite. The video game is definitely old school, but that's part of the appeal in this Super Mario Brothers saturated world.
