Toledo Filmmaker Back Home for a Little Networking

This crime comedy was made in LA back in 2007 for around $2,000. Now that director Tom Madigan is back for a bit in his native Toledo, he's staging a screening. Think of it as the polar opposite of Transformers: Age of Extinction.

The event starts at 7 p.m. so that Madigan can precede the 8:15 p.m. showing of Dead Doornails with some of his shorts. It all goes down southwest of Toledo at Maumee High School's Maumee Performing Arts Center

.

As Madigan recently told the Toledo City Paper, the June 28th / $5 admission screening is notable for another reason:

"Dead Doornails will screen to the public for only the second time ever,” he said. "I would love to connect with anyone in the area interested in making, or already making, low-budget movies. This is the primary purpose of the screening. Also, it will give you a good laugh."

The Bowling Green State University grad got rolling with filmmaking in 2001 and found immediate success with his even more-micro effort ($150) The Darker Side of Romance. Success that sparked his move to LA in 2003.
