World premiering on Sunday, April 25th at the 2010 Newport Beach Film Festival (@NBFF), the documentary We Were Feared is all about the other west coast Cuckoo's Nest dating back to the 1970s, a punk rock club in Orange County, California that gave rise to stage diving and many elements of today's extreme sports culture.
Although a previous documentary, The Nest, chronicled the origins of the Costa Mesa club, the story of owner Jerry Roach's battles with the community as first chronicled by reporter Connie Chung remains a tale well worth retelling. No word on whether anyone from The Ramones, the Circle Jerks or any of the other legendary bands that once graced The Nest stage will make it to the April 25th screening.
