Caddyshack on a Ski Hill

The eventual goal of Hatch Media Works co-founders Ken Dolman and Micah Black is to complete a feature-length comedy, tentatively titled Lifty Shack, that transposes the spirit of the Bill Murray 1980 comedy classic Caddyshack to the setting of a downhill ski resort. But for now, their first baby step is the eleven-minute deadpan offering Jim E. Drops the Big One, in which Black stars as extreme skier Jim E. Slayed, whose about-to-be-filmed stunt is constantly put on hold by a production crew working with him at Grand Targhee Resort.

To make the short, which is currently eligible for online voting as part of the Wyoming Film Office's $25,000 2010 Short Film Contest, Dolman and Black enlisted veteran cinematographer Peter Pilafian (Riding Giants, Dogtown and Z Boys) as well as the on-camera participation of extreme skiing names like Steve Jones, who plays the director of the camera crew. Though based in Alta, Wyoming, Dolman and Black are currently in Los Angeles working on the Lifty Shack script.
