The movie is called Pieces of Talent, but good luck finding conventional information on the official website such as a synopsis or cast and crew. Ahead of the indie horror thriller's October 31st premiere in Wilmington, North Carolina, there's a bloody still photo adorning a home page connected to star Dustin Edge and some frightening teaser footage atop the film's Vlogs page.
From what I can tell, the movie is about a demented artist, David Long (Edge), and the latest woman, Charlotte (Kristi Ray), to get caught up in his macabre machinations. Following its debut Monday at the Nutt Street Comedy Room, Edge and director Joe Stauffer hope to take their film on a 50-city cross-country tour, driving themselves around in a 1958 VW bus that is featured in the movie. The pair plan to document their journey for the purposes of a follow-on non-fiction piece.
Pieces of Talent is Stauffer's feature film debut. He has worked as a cinematographer and editor on a number of projects, as well as made commercials and music videos locally.
His highest profile credits are from 2009: the indie drama The Jailhouse, starring C. Thomas Howell, and a Sky British TV series Port City P.D.. After a two-month shoot in 2010, Stauffer and co. reconvened to redo the Pieces ending, so a lot of prop blood, sweat and tears has gone into the film. Based on the aforementioned promotional glimpses, it should be a very scary Halloween for those checking it out next week in Wilmington and Raleigh on November 2nd.
