The weekend prior, Bigfoot: The Movie director Jared Show and several cast members guest bartended at The Loft in Beaver Falls. And the weekend of the movie's premiere, stars Curt Wootton (a.k.a. Pittsburgh Dad) and Joanie Dodds (America's Top Model) cruised down to Nissan dealership Beaver County Auto to meet and greet folks over the lunch hour. With a special friend in tow.
This is how you turn a locally shot horror comedy into a summer-long regional event. There have been drive-in screenings, county fair appearances and, later this month at the Arcade Comedy Theater in Pittsburgh, it will be time for Bigfoot: The Movie and Stand-Up Show. Along with a showing of the film, featured actors Aaron Kleiber, Mike Wysocki and Terry Jones will do stand-up sets.
The reaction to the movie among “yinz”, e.g. Western Pennsylvania locals, has been favorable. Here is some sample feedback, culled from the movie's Facebook page:
Lorri Beatrice-Baldelli: If you are from Pittsburgh, you should definitely watch this. Very funny.
Patrick C. Wentz: I downloaded Bigfoot from Vimeo and my son and I have watched it three times already. Is there a chance of getting Bigfoot Burnout or should I just keep watching it over and over and laughing?
In the film, three men in Ellwood City look to hunt down Sasquatch after the creature kills one of their friends. At press time, Bigfoot is booked for all three days of Steel City Comic Con in August.
