An assistant professor of mass communications at Frostburg State University in Maryland since 2007, Micheal McAlexander was in Los Angeles recently for completely non-academic reasons: to find a male and female lead actor for his upcoming feature filmmaking debut, A Lesson in Love. His script tells the story of a biblical studies university professor who, distraught and faith-challenged after the suicide of his wife, finds redemption with the help of a deeply Christian female janitor.
McAlexander is no stranger to the film production process; prior to his time at Frostburg, he earned drama and film degrees from UC Irvine and USC, and has worked on Hollywood film sets. He plans to submit A Lesson in Love to festivals this fall after shooting is completed in July.
